Scary Movies that Will Make You Want to Avoid the Gym

Are you one of those people who have started researching easy weight loss methods ever since the new year started? Do you have that drive to just hit the gym now and start your weight loss journey for the year? You are not alone! The ‘New Year, New Me’ concept never gets old.

A lot of new year’s resolutions are about being fit or losing weight with appetite suppressants. Gym businesses are working best during the start of the year. For first-timers, the gym may be a bit scary—aside from the fear of accidents that could happen while being in a free open space with heavy equipment all around you, gym deaths portrayed in different movies are also a factor

Here are the top three scary movies of all time that will make you hesitant about getting a gym membership:

Killer Workout (1987)

Also known as Aerobicide, this film is one of the most legendary movies of the late 80s. In the movie, the main character stays in the gym after everyone leaves. She took a shower, and just like that, all the lights suddenly shut off, and a killer comes in stabbing her to death.

This could be a nice movie to binge if you’re a fan of suspense and thriller movie genres. However, watching this before a gym day might make you feel uneasy while taking a shower there.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

Another 80’s creepy film that will make you consider finding other weight loss methods that won’t involve the gym. The infamous Freddy Kreuger attacks her friend in this movie while working out in the gym. He tortured her by bending her arms backwards while she was lifting weights. The show may be graphic to some since it exposed the flesh and bones on her elbows. She literally got ripped at the gym.

Tragedy Girls (2017)

This Hulu original film features a man that decides to work out and stay at the gym even after its operating hours. This is basically a movie where the killers (yes, there are two murderers in this movie) catch the victim in an enclosed space, and the victim has nothing left to do but hide and fight. In the movie, you’ll see flying gym equipment and how deadly those could be.

Other scary movies about the gym you might want to binge on:

  • Final Destination 5 (2011)
  • Final Destination 3 (2006)
  • Death Spa (1989)
  • Happy Birthday to Me (1981)
  • Demons 2 (1986)
  • Final Exam (1981)
  • Fatal Games (1984)
  • The Toxic Avenger (1984)

Whether you continue that gym membership or not, you can always find alternative weight loss methods. You can always consider working out at home to plan your own diet program. You can also opt to be a part of different communities such as yoga enthusiasts, runners, jogging clubs, etc. Choose the right path for your weight loss journey this year that also guarantees that you have fun.
